Host a "Drive"

One of the most effective ways to support The Fort St. John Salvation Army is by hosting a "Drive", and we want to share some ideas to make it a whole lot easier to host.  With the Christmas season just around the corner, there are a number of drives that would really benefit the men, women and children who seek our help. Check different types of drives we've suggested or come up with a whole new idea. If you need us to provide tubs or bins to hold the items you've collected, we can do that too.  Register your drive our event using the form at the bottom of this page, or call our administrative office at (250) 785-0506.

Some ideas for drives include:

Food Drive -
The Salvation Army operates its food bank on 100th Ave, providing groceries to members of our community who are struggling with this most basic need. However, the shelves at our pantry continually need to be replenished. Your business or organization can be part of the solution to this need by collecting food for our pantry with a Food Drive. With your help, we can provide nutritious groceries to people who are hungry and desperately need our help. Items we are in need of right now include:

Canned soup                     Cereal(hot and cold)                 Dry Pasta                               Jam
Boxed meals                      Granola bars                             School snacks                       Juice boxes
Milk                                     Cheese                                       Eggs                                       Protein
Canned Fruit                      Fresh Fruit                                 Pudding cups                        Snack Crackers
Variety Beans                     Cookies                                      Butter                                    Spices
Toiletries                             Tampons                                   Rice                                        Fresh Produce

Please consider items that can be prepared to serve nutritious, well-balanced meals for families when donating.

Care Kit Drive

Undergarment Drive -
Helping our clients find their pathway to hope and a better life often starts with helping them regain their dignity. One of the easiest and most effective ways to do that is with new undergarments like underwear, socks, and t-shirts; the very items we take for granted on a daily basis. Helping us collect these items ensures we can continue to help those in need.

Christmas Dinner Drive - The Christmas holiday is a time when most people sit down do a bountiful meal of turkey and an assortment of sides, enjoying the fellowship of family and friends. But for many, this yearly feast is only possible thanks to the generosity of those in their communities where organizations like The Salvation Army provide the  Christmas meal. Each year, your Salvation Army provides the items needed for a family to enjoy a beautiful meal on Christmas Day.  Please consider donating a turkey or an assortment of side items to help us continue to provide this opportunity to create beautiful memories around the table.

Toy Drive - We all love seeing the look of excitement and wonder on a child's face Christmas morning, but for many families in our community, the stress of being able to provide even one wrapped package under the tree is un-measurable.  By organizing a Toy Drive, you will be able to assist us in making sure that each child in Fort St John receives a gift to open Christmas morning.
